The level gating in Trackmania is much more strict in comparison. If you do REALLY well on the early tracks you can skip some tracks and go straight ahead to later tracks.

To unlock the extreme tracks you just need 96 medals (or something like that, plus beating the last hard track). One thing I like about Trials is that you don't have to master every track to get to the later tracks.

That being said, I think game comparisons are okay as long as it's done to discuss the game appropriately instead of just saying "I like this game series so I want all games to be like it."Īnyways, the two games with similar level progressions systems and medal related achievements would be Trials and Action Henk. I thought the official site review was a chief offender of that, saying it would be more fun if the game was like Revolt or Micro Machines. The fact that it isn't like the game you prefer doesn't make this a bad game, it just means it might not appeal to you as much. I don't generally like it when people say things like "Well I like Forza and I would enjoy this game if it was more like Forza." Okay, that's fine, but this offers something different and unique. If I want to do the black tracks am I allowed to get a silver on everything from here on out and then just use a joker medal on every level? Is there a limit on how many tracks I use a joker on?Īlso, anyone else having the problem on multilap tracks where the display freezes for a few seconds when you hit the new lap? The game keeps running, but the display freezes, so when it unfreezes you've crashed horrendously. Now I try something and just get frustrated and start to not enjoy it. I was going for all golds and the earlier tracks were tough sometimes, but I would always persevere and get it. I know people have trackmastered all this, so it's not impossible, but I don't think that's a good mechanic.

I dunno, like on track 62 I hit another wooden loop completely straight as far as my eye can tell and I still wind up spinning off to one side well over half the time.

I like the game overall, but I think some of the game mechanics are just straight up bad mechanics. I'm onto green lagoon and tracks 62 and 63 can go screw themselves. Yeah I'm much further now and I REALLY hate the wood surfaces. I hope this helps you, I don't consider myself to be great at this game as I am only going for the gold medals, but out of the 4 track types I actually find Lagoon and Valley to be the easiest and struggle with the Canyon tracks. If you can turn a corner without drifting it's usually better than drifting, going in slow but coming out fast, this only applies to road though.

You can continue to adjust how sharp you turn if you continue to tap the gas while turning, very useful for the big u-turn drifts or if you want to change direction mid drift.Īlso not exclusive to sand tracks, but your car turns sharper if you are not pressing the gas, this is pretty much required for a lot of tracks and can easily net you a decent chunk of time if the gold medal drifts the corner. When taking a corner on sand, it's very easy to start a drift by turning and then releasing the gas and then pressing it again. It's very important to not touch the steering on bumps/jumps until all wheels land unless you want to lose control/drift. If you go off a bump/jump and land sideways on sand/grass/dirt you will automatically drift, this is useful so you don't lose speed. Either avoid the bump by taking the corner wide (if possible) or slow down by releasing the gas before the turn (I almost never brake on sand/dirt tracks). When taking a corner on sand make sure there isn't a bump on the corner, if you are going too fast you will get airborne and overshoot (meaning when you land it will be too late to turn). This may not be the best method, but it has been working for me to get trackmaster/gold medals. I will give advice on how I deal with sand tracks and hopefully this will help you.

It was a struggle to get silver and I can't see myself getting gold on these, so that pretty much ends my Trackmania campaign unfortunately. I have spent more time on the sand tracks than any other. Any slight movement will cause your car to jerk off course. I managed to trackmaster this track but it took many attempts hoping to get lucky on the wooden loop.Įpsilon Factor said: The sections I hate are the beach tracks. For track 28, a lot of people are complaining about the wooden loops, it seems they are very inconsistent, it isn't due to the engine turning off.
